Van Merksteijn Motorsport concludes Drive for KiKa fundraising
Posted on Tuesday, January 10, 2012

Van Merksteijn Motorsport formerly closed the 2011 season during a special meeting held yesterday in the German town of Furstenau and glanced forward to the coming season. The Dutch team entered in 2011 as an official WRC Team with the Citroën DS3 WRC in ten rounds of the championship and earned 16 valuable WRC points during the year.

On the outdoor activity complex Fursten Forest, 70 kilometers from the Dutch border near the German town Furstenau, Van Merksteijn Motorsport held a special day to which all sponsors were invited to reflect on the first season as a WRC team in the global championship. Despite an less tempting weather forecast for the day, the invited guests attended the day in great numbers. During a presentation by Peter van Merksteijn jr. all the sponsors were thanked for their support of the previous year and the plans for the coming season were revealed.

Van Merksteijn Motorsport has used its 2011 participation in the World Rally Championship to create more awareness for social problems and during the season has been actively raising funds with their “Drive for KiKa” for the KiKa foundation, which funds research into childhood cancer. Kick van der Val, ambassador for KiKa, came personally to Furstenau to receive out off the hands of Peter van Merksteijn jr. a cheque worth € 12,500.00. A fantastic result that has been contributed by the team and various sponsors, which will be used by KiKa for one of the may research projects that the foundation makes possible.
